Building a base is one of the most important steps toward long‑term survival on the island. Whether you prefer a hidden shack in the woods or a fortified compound overlooking the coast, Survius gives you the freedom to create your own safe haven.
Gather the Resources You Need
The island is filled with abandoned locations waiting to be scavenged. Explore houses, farms, industrial zones, and even the military base to find items that help you stay alive. For construction materials, you’ll rely on two essentials:
- Logs – Chop down trees using an axe.
- Iron Ore – Mine rocks with a pickaxe.
These raw materials form the backbone of your base‑building journey.

Craft Your First Workbench
Before you can build anything meaningful, you’ll need a workbench. Open the [C] Craft menu to see how many planks are required. Planks can be created at civilian workbenches found inside garages across the island—just convert your gathered logs into usable planks.
Once you have enough, pick a good location and place your workbench. This becomes your personal crafting hub, accessible with [E] Use.

Constructing Your Base
With your workbench ready, it’s time to start building:
Lay the Foundation
Every base begins with a foundation. After placing it, you can upgrade it using [U] Upgrade. Each upgrade requires planks and adds structural elements like pillars and eventually a roof.
Add Walls and a Door
Shape your base however you like—add walls for protection and finish it off with a door. To craft a door, you’ll need a padlock, which requires a trip to the ironsmith. Bring plenty of scrap metal or iron tools, and check the [M] Map for the ironsmith’s location.
