Crafting
You can craft items that aid you in your survival, or craft items that help you construct a base. The materials needed to craft these items can be found by searching cabinets, drawers, boxes, cars, etc.
Building
To build a base you need tools, which you can find while scavanging. You need an axe to gather wood from trees and a pickaxe to gather stones from rocks.
